How slay those 4C edges

4c hair can be super frustrating for many reasons, however in todays time and age everyone is sleeking & slaying their edges and us 4C girls see this as super impossible because of our thick- brittle edges that seem unlaidable.
Firstly, I think we've been doing it wrong this whole entire time; I think we've been trying to lay our hairline hair and not our baby hairs and that my loves is a huge mistake, but everything is fixable. Your baby hairs are the tiny soft hairs before your hairline hairs (those little hairs that always get when you wash your face)

I discovered the Revlon Flex Style Gel from a friend who's edges stayed slaying, the gel comes in 3 different types, the green one which is the normal hold gel, the red one which is the strong hold gel and the blue one (which I purchased) which is the extreme hold. First impressions of the gel I thought okay, it smells gooood, as it smells like a baby powder and secondly I thought 'this gel is runny how on earth is it going to lay my 4c edges' - but I was in awe the moment I tried the gel.
The gel is quite watery, therefore it allows for flexibility when appyling the gel onto your edges, but can tend to be a bit slippery, personally I like to use my fingers to take a tiny bit of the gel, section by section and apply the gel to the part of the edge I desire to sleek down and then I go in with an old toothbrush and shape the edges how I like them; the gel does move around foundation as well as lotion as it is very watery which is definitely a con for me, but my solution to this is applying the gel before I applying cream and then dampening the corner of a towel and cleaning up the edges of mess, I then wait for the gel to dry and there you go, laid edges honey!!

I then go in with Design Essentials Sleek Edge Control and go over my edges very lightly just to give a less dried out effect that the gel gives off after it dries and now I'm ready to rock the streets with my perfectly-laid edges! - Other good alternatives for the Design Essentials edge gel are the ORS Edge Control Hair Gel(R79.95) and the Cantu Extra Hold Edge Gel(R139.99). - this step can be skipped, because it is absolutely unnecessary.
Here's how my edges looked:

This is to all my curly headed girls. Go rock those edges!
